Invite fun, whimsical, and royal designs into your home with these 10 GOT-themed rooms!
1) House Arryn of Eyrie
The House of Eyrie is considered to be an impenetrable castle. Its height and location on the tallest mountain in Vale are difficult to surmount. This design calls for a room with height. The neutral grays and blues are a palette worthy of the rocky mountaintops. If you look close, you might find a moon door to peer through but don’t get too close!
2) House Baratheon of Storm’s End
The symbol for House Baratheon is a crowned black stag on a field of gold. Their words, Ours is the Fury, fits for this tempest design with stag artwork that will watch over the lords and ladies of your home. A dark green or black will keep your home safe.
3) House Greyjoy of Pyke
House Greyjoy rules over the Iron Islands, a harsh and bleak collection of forbidding islands off the west coast of Westeros. You can have your own Iron Island in a sunroom drenched in grays, whites, and blacks with the wooden and silver decor.
4) House Lannister of Casterly Rock
The Lannisters are as royal as it gets. Their symbol is a golden lion on a field of crimson. Cersei herself would rule well in this regal room with drapes for days and luxurious decor. Red paint is the way to go if you want to have the drama and extravagance of the Lannisters.
5) House Martell of Sunspear
Dorne is the hottest region of Westeros, which means House Martell spends a great deal of time outdoors. This daybed design is the perfect piece of furniture to bring outside on a porch or deck where you can plot your next invasion or plan for painting your home! Bringing natural colors like green and yellow will cool things down for you.
6) House Stark of Winterfell
The noblest of Houses, Starks, are known for their strength and affinity to warm decor to make it through the cold temps of the North. Winter may be coming, but you’ll have everything you need in this room to survive the White Walkers. Keep things warm and comfortable with these neutral paint colors.
7) House Targaryen of Dragonstone
Daenerys is on her way to conquer the Seven Kingdoms, which means she’ll need to rest at some point. This room fit for Dragonstone with a black chair rail and decorative wallpaper would more than please the Mother of Dragons. Wallpaper will allow you to capture the uniqueness of this family.
8) House Tully of Riverrun
House Tully of the Riverlands have lost their lands for good, but they will never forget their Family, Duty, Honor, as their motto says. You can have the antique look of a kingdom lost in time with a faux finish wall and decorative mural.
9) House Tyrell of Highgarden
The wealthy Tyrells bear a symbol of a golden rose on a green field, representing that together they live, or shall we say ‘lived,’ out their motto of Growing Strong. House Tyrell may have lost the Game of Thrones, but what they taught us can be captured in your elegant living room. Use green in your home to symbolize wealth and natural elegance. A color like PPG’ Night Watch may work especially well.
10) The Wall
Last but certainly not least, The Wall is a massive shield of ice, protecting the Seven Kingdoms from the wildlands beyond. This white and black open floor plan living room with a wall of stairs that draws the eye upwards is the perfect resting spot for The Night’s Watch or any night owl in your home.
To celebrate the final season, get your house in order with a new coat of paint!
